What the NEET Counselling Fee Calculator does
After you clear NEET-UG, the next real cost is the counselling registration payment you make to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) — the body under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare that runs All-India-Quota and Deemed/Central University counselling. This tool tells you the exact amount you must transfer at MCC registration, broken into the two very different parts candidates constantly confuse: a small non-refundable registration-cum-counselling fee and a much larger refundable security deposit.

How the fee is worked out
MCC fixes two amounts per counselling stream, and the total you pay is simply their sum:

- AIQ / Government (15% All India Quota, Central Universities, AIIMS, JIPMER, AFMC, ESIC, B.Sc Nursing) is category-tiered — SC / ST / OBC / PwD candidates pay a concessional rate.
- Deemed Universities charge a flat fee and deposit for every candidate, regardless of category.
The one rule that trips people up is registering for both streams in the same cycle. MCC does not add the two payments together — it charges only the higher fee set:

Because the Deemed set (₹5,000 + ₹2,00,000) always dwarfs the AIQ/Government set, choosing “Both” resolves to the Deemed total in every case — you never pay the sum.

Assumptions and limitations
- Currency is pinned to INR — this is an India-only statutory scheme administered by MCC / DGHS.
- The registration-cum-counselling fee is a single per-cycle charge, non-refundable in all cases; it is not multiplied per round.
- The security deposit is refundable after all counselling rounds complete, provided it isn't forfeited. It is forfeited in specified cases — for example, not joining a seat allotted in Round 2 or later, admission cancelled for incorrect information, failing to produce documents, or not joining a final stray-vacancy allotment.
- This covers only MCC-conducted AIQ and Deemed/Central counselling. State counselling is run separately by each state authority with its own fees and deposits, which are not included here.
- It excludes college tuition, hostel and mess fees, and any management/private-quota costs — this is the MCC counselling participation cost only.

How much is the MCC NEET-UG counselling registration fee?+
For AIQ/Government counselling (15% All India Quota, Central Universities, AIIMS, JIPMER, AFMC, ESIC, B.Sc Nursing), UR/EWS candidates pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs.1,000 and SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates pay Rs.500. Is the NEET counselling registration fee refundable?+
No. The registration-cum-counselling fee (Rs.500-Rs.5,000 depending on stream and category) is non-refundable in all cases. Only the separate security deposit is refundable, and only if it isn't forfeited.
When is the NEET counselling security deposit refunded?+
MCC releases the security deposit only once every round of that counselling cycle has finished and the deposit hasn't been forfeited. Its refund window runs in two steps: the payout is set in motion roughly 15 days after MCC announces the cycle is complete, and the full batch is wrapped up within about 30 days of that same announcement.
Does MCC pay interest on the NEET counselling security deposit?+
No. The security deposit is held by MCC's appointed Financial Custodian for the duration of the counselling cycle and is returned at the same face value you paid — MCC does not add interest, no matter how long the cycle takes to complete.
Can I change the bank account for my NEET counselling refund?+
No. MCC pays the security-deposit refund back only into the exact bank account or card used to make the original payment, and this cannot be switched after registration (it's a fraud-prevention rule). Keep that account or card active until the refund lands, and avoid filing a bank chargeback — MCC has warned that a chargeback can block the direct refund and leave you to resolve it with your card-issuing bank instead.
What if I register for both AIQ/Government and Deemed counselling?+
MCC charges only the higher of the two fee sets, not the sum of both. Since the Deemed set (Rs.5,000 registration + Rs.2,00,000 security = Rs.2,05,000) is always higher than the AIQ/Government set, a candidate registering for both pays Rs.2,05,000 total — the same as registering for Deemed alone.
Do PwD candidates get a separate NEET counselling fee?+
No. PwD (Persons with Disability) candidates are charged under the same concessional 'Reserved' tier as SC/ST/OBC candidates for AIQ/Government counselling — Rs.500 registration and Rs.5,000 security deposit, not a distinct rate.
In what cases is the NEET counselling security deposit forfeited?+
MCC forfeits the security deposit if a candidate is allotted a seat in Round 2 or a later round and does not join it, has admission cancelled for providing incorrect information, fails to produce required documents at reporting, does not join a final stray-vacancy allotment, or exits without authorization during a round where exit isn't permitted.
